Gondola shelving
The key difference is the number of vertical upright posts included in each kit.
-
Starter Bay (Includes 2 Posts): This is a complete, freestanding unit capable of standing on its own. You must use one Starter Bay to begin every new row. If your layout requires multiple independent, unconnected shelving units, they must all be Starter Bays.
-
Add-On Bay (Includes 1 Post): This is an extension kit designed to connect directly to an existing bay. Because it shares a post with the adjacent unit, it only includes one vertical upright and cannot stand alone. Using Add-On Bays is the most cost-effective way to extend your shelving into long, continuous aisles.
Because our heavy-duty gondola systems are highly customizable, we stock a vast range of fittings to suit your specific backing choice and merchandising needs.
-
For Pegboard & Slatwall Backing: We carry a massive selection of hooks, faceouts, and prongs designed specifically for Volcano Pegboard and Metal Slatwall backing, perfect for hang-sell merchandise.
-
For Slatwall Gondolas: If you choose a metal slatwall backing, you can easily integrate custom timber displays. By using standard slatwall brackets, you can securely mount stylish melamine shelves directly onto the gondola.
-
For Adjustable Shelving: The vertical upright posts on our gondolas feature a standard 50mm pitch slotting system. This means they are fully compatible with standard 50mm wallstrip brackets, allowing you to easily add, adjust, or angle extra steel or timber shelves.
-
Additional Accessories: To further organize your gondolas, we also offer wire baskets, front fences, shelf dividers, and heavy-duty castors (for mobility).
Yes, our gondola shelving can be optioned with heavy-duty locking castors to create highly mobile retail displays, allowing you to easily adjust your floor plan.
However, for safety and stability, we only recommend installing castors on double-sided gondolas. Single-sided gondolas can become top-heavy and unstable when made mobile. When outfitting your double-sided gondola with wheels, you must use 3 castors per vertical upright post to ensure the weight is properly distributed and the unit remains perfectly balanced and secure.
