How much weight can a slatwall panel hold?

An18mm thick MDF panel fitted with aluminum inserts and properly screwed into structural studs can support significant weight, making it perfect for hardware and heavy garments. Please see our Slatwall Panel load guide for exact specifications: Slatwall Max Load Capacity Guide

Please note: Slatwall panels are weakest at the edges so for optimal results please avoid placing any brackets at the edge of the Slatwall.

Freight and pickups for slatwall panels

Full-size slatwall panels (2400x1200mm) are highly fragile during freight transport if shipped individually. To prevent transport damage, we enforce a strict minimum of 3 panels for delivery orders. The larger Slatwall panels can be swapped out for the smaller 1200x1200 panel pairs which can be shipped induvidually and cost the same. Further, there is no minimum quantity for local click-and-collect orders. You can arrange pickup for a single panel from any of our dispatch warehouses, including our Gold Coast facility in Molendinar, as well as our Sydney and Melbourne locations.

How do I install slatwall panels so the seams aren't visible?

Our full-size 2400x1200mm panels feature 11 full grooves, plus a specialized "half-groove" along one of the 2400mm edges. When installing panels vertically (one stacked above the other), you simply butt the two half-grooves together and slide a single Aluminum T-Extrusion into the newly formed full slot. This completely hides the join, giving the appearance of one massive, continuous wall. Please note: You may need to purchase one extra extrusion per join to achieve this.

How do I install slatwall panels?

Installing slatwall panels securely is a straightforward process, but it is crucial to anchor them directly to your wall studs to ensure maximum weight capacity. We highly recommend using a spirit level to ensure your base panel is perfectly aligned before securing it.

For a clean and professional finish, drill countersunk screws directly through the aluminum T-extrusions. This not only maximizes structural strength but also ensures the screw heads remain completely hidden once your hooks and merchandise are displayed.

When stacking panels to cover a higher wall, simply butt the two factory "half-grooves" together and slide a single aluminum extrusion into the slot to create a flawless, invisible seam. Tip: If your layout requires a vertical 1200mm (W) x 2400mm (H) configuration, purchasing a pair of 1200mm x 1200mm slatwall panels is the perfect solution.

Please note that slatwall panels are manufactured with raw MDF edges. To achieve a polished, high-end look, we recommend framing the installation with our aluminum edge extrusions. Additionally, our panels are fully laminated on both the grooved front and the flat rear side, eliminating the need for extra color matching if the back of the panel is ever exposed in your retail layout.

How are bulky slatwall orders delivered, and do I need a forklift?

Full-size slatwall panels (2400x1200mm) are classified as oversized, bulky freight and are shipped on large pallets. Standard commercial delivery rates assume you have a forklift on-site to safely unload the goods. If your location does not have a forklift and you require a truck equipped with a tailgate lift, or if you need the driver to assist with manual hand-unloading, a custom freight quote is required prior to checkout. Please contact our team before placing your order so we can arrange the correct specialized courier service and provide you with an accurate shipping cost.

Please note: 1200x1200 panels are not typically classified as oversized items and can be shipped freely.

Do you sell discounted or clearance slatwall panels

Yes, we frequently offer clearance slatwall panels with minor to significant damage up 50% off the standard retail price. Because our inventory of discounted 2400x1200mm sheets changes constantly in both color and available sizes, we recommend contacting our team directly to find out what is currently in stock. Please note that all discounted and damaged panels are strictly local pick-up only from our warehouses and must be inspected in person before finalizing your purchase.

Perfect for any Installations that need custom sized panels.

How much weight can a French cleat hold?

A French cleat can safely hold anywhere from 30 kg to 180 kg, depending on cleat type, length, wall material, screw quality, and installation. Test data shows:

    • 152 mm Type A: 30 kg

    • 152 mm Type B: 40 kg

    • 1220 mm Type A: 135 kg

    • 1220 mm Type B: 180 kg

*Real‑world capacity may be lower if the wall or fasteners are weaker than the cleat itself.

The maximum safe load of a French cleat is determined by four interacting factors

    • Wall Material (Critical).
    • Screw Type and Installation (Critical)
    • Lever Arm Distance (how far the centre of mass projects from the wall)
    • Aluminium Strength

    How to install French cleat?

    Installation Overview

Split batten (French cleat) system is designed for the concealed fixing of panels, signage, or mirrors to walls. It allows for a clean, flush finish with no visible screws, making it easy to both install and remove the panels when needed.

    Step-by-Step Installation

    1. Separate the Pair: Each set requires two interlocking aluminum pieces—one section mounts to the wall, and the matching section attaches to the back of your panel.

    2. Mount the Wall Rail:

    • Position one of the rails against your wall at the desired height, ensuring it is perfectly level.
    • Secure it into the wall studs or appropriate wall anchors using the provided screws.
    • Tip: Make sure the interlocking lip of the rail is facing upward and outward from the wall.

    3. Attach the Panel Rail:

    • Line up the second rail on the back of the panel or item you want to hang.
    • Secure it firmly into place using the included screws.
    • Tip: Make sure the interlocking lip on the panel is facing downward and inward so it can drop into the wall mount.

    4. Hang the Panel:

    • Lift your panel slightly above the wall mount and lower it into place.
    • The two low-profile sections will interlock seamlessly, holding the panel securely against the wall with a minimal, concealed gap.
