What is a Feature End and how is it installed?

A Feature End (often referred to as an End Cap) is a specialized display unit designed to attach directly to the side of a double-sided gondola run. It "caps off" the end of an aisle, creating an 'H' shape pattern that provides highly visible, premium merchandising space facing the main walkways.

Feature ends are highly customizable and can be optioned with Slatwall, Flat Panel, or Volcano Pegboard backing to suit your product needs. Please note that because they are designed to connect directly to the existing upright posts of your double-sided gondola, Feature Ends do not come with base plates or legs included. If your specific layout requires base legs, they can be ordered separately.

What is the difference between a Starter Bay and an Add-On Bay?

The key difference is the number of vertical upright posts included in each kit.

  • Starter Bay (Includes 2 Posts): This is a complete, freestanding unit capable of standing on its own. You must use one Starter Bay to begin every new row. If your layout requires multiple independent, unconnected shelving units, they must all be Starter Bays.

  • Add-On Bay (Includes 1 Post): This is an extension kit designed to connect directly to an existing bay. Because it shares a post with the adjacent unit, it only includes one vertical upright and cannot stand alone. Using Add-On Bays is the most cost-effective way to extend your shelving into long, continuous aisles.

What fittings and accessories are available for gondola shelving?

Because our heavy-duty gondola systems are highly customizable, we stock a vast range of fittings to suit your specific backing choice and merchandising needs.

  • For Pegboard & Slatwall Backing: We carry a massive selection of hooks, faceouts, and prongs designed specifically for Volcano Pegboard and Metal Slatwall backing, perfect for hang-sell merchandise.

  • For Slatwall Gondolas: If you choose a metal slatwall backing, you can easily integrate custom timber displays. By using standard slatwall brackets, you can securely mount stylish melamine shelves directly onto the gondola.

  • For Adjustable Shelving: The vertical upright posts on our gondolas feature a standard 50mm pitch slotting system. This means they are fully compatible with standard 50mm wallstrip brackets, allowing you to easily add, adjust, or angle extra steel or timber shelves.

  • Additional Accessories: To further organize your gondolas, we also offer wire baskets, front fences, shelf dividers, and heavy-duty castors (for mobility).

Can I add castors (wheels) to my gondola shelving?

Yes, our gondola shelving can be optioned with heavy-duty locking castors to create highly mobile retail displays, allowing you to easily adjust your floor plan.

However, for safety and stability, we only recommend installing castors on double-sided gondolas. Single-sided gondolas can become top-heavy and unstable when made mobile. When outfitting your double-sided gondola with wheels, you must use 3 castors per vertical upright post to ensure the weight is properly distributed and the unit remains perfectly balanced and secure.

How much weight can a gondola shelving system hold.

Our heavy-duty commercial gondola shelving is strictly engineered for demanding retail environments. Each individual shelf is rated for a 70kg Universally Distributed Load (UDL).

Overall, the shelving system can safely support a maximum load capacity of 210kg per side per bay. This makes it ideal for dense, heavy merchandise like hardware tools, automotive parts, liquor, and bulk groceries.

Can I create a wall-mounted gondola system without the base legs?

Our wall-mounted slotted post kits can be seamlessly mixed with standard gondola shelves, gondola back panels, and any other gondola shelving fittings.

This allows you to form a complete wall-mounted gondola system without needing to use the bulky bottom base legs, providing a sleek, minimal footprint that maximizes your retail floor space. Contact staff for assistance with formulating a custom gondola shelving kit to suit your specifications.

What signage and pricing options are available for gondola shelving?

To maximize your in-store merchandising and clearly display pricing, we offer a comprehensive range of signage and ticketing solutions that integrate seamlessly with our metal gondolas:

  • Top Covers & Lightboxes: Draw attention from across the store by capping your gondola with a specialized top cover. These can be optioned with striking illuminated lightboxes or sleek magnetic sign holders to display large promotional headers and category signs.

  • Shelf Signage Attachments: Easily mount promotional cards, aisle violators, or sale tags using our adhesive T-grips. For a reusable option, our heavy-duty magnetic clips attach directly to the steel gondola frame, allowing for quick and effortless repositioning.

  • Data Stripping: Keep your pricing and barcodes perfectly organized along the shelf edge. We supply several different kinds of data strips, including standard flat data strips for eye-level shelves, angled data strips for lower base shelves to improve customer visibility, and clip-on profiles designed specifically to fit our wire shelves and baskets.
